Premier Womens first game on Sunday

Lismore Workers Premier Women will kick off their season on Sunday against Thistles 12.30 pm at Riverview Park South Lismore.

Workers ladies have had an encouraging pre season, defeating Thistles in the first round of the Callan McMillan Cup before an hard fought draw against the highly fancied Bangalow side.

Despite going down to traditional women’s favorites Alstonville in their final group game new coach Luke McWaide looks to have a talented squad to work with. McWaide is looking to blend exciting young players from last year with some skilful new players. Although it is early in the year the signs are good with all players anxious to prove there is a new side to challenge for the Premiership.

Workers President Dave Condon is excited about the year ahead. “Lismore Workers were once the leaders in ladies football. After a promising year last year – with many girls playing their first year in seniors – we are hoping for a big year from our Premier Ladies team” said Condon.

The club is keen to get behind the side on Sunday. There will be Sausage sizzle and drinks so come along, bring the family and support the girls.
